Susan Campbell Obituary

1950 ~ 2017
Our beloved angel mother was reunited with her Heavenly Father, her dear husband, and her loving parents, peacefully in her home, on the morning of December 23rd, 2017.
Susan was born January 12, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph and Ruth Larsen. The oldest of three children, she delighted in her upbringing, in the Avenues, with her parents, two brothers, and wonderful friends. She attended East High where she developed life long friendships. Susan met her sweetheart, Galen, at a dance while in junior high. After his mission, they met again while both students at the University of Utah. The courting months were filled with wonder and beauty. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple November 20th , 1970. They moved to St. Louis, where she supported him while he attended dental school, by caring for other children. It was there that she gave birth to Jonathan and Kristin (Allen) and added the blessed and heavenly title of Mother. They returned to Salt Lake and lived in the Millcreek area. Mom supported Dad in his new dental practice. After a few years, they bought their first home together in Murray-Holladay area, where she made house a home, a refuge, with a bit of heaven, love and sacrifice. She supported dad, when he was called to be a bishop, by living a powerful sermon of love and dedication for him, and the Lord. Then she brought Julie (Liston) into the world. Finally, Katie (Poulsen) joined the family. She continued to read and pray with her children each night. She magnified many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, including Stake Relief Society President. She always looked for an opportunity to serve, even in her last days, she was looking for ways to help others for Christmas. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved to have her family together, and to plan parties. She loved the details, and made most Sunday dinners feel like holidays. She was incredibly creative, and loved to create beautiful things. She loved giving gifts, and creating opportunities to shower her family with tokens of her love at every turn, always making sure to treat each equally. She was gracious and grateful. She prayed humbly and powerfully for her family, her neighbors and friends, and the downtrodden, and looked to God often for His help and guidance. She loved her Savior and lived a life of discipleship. She had obtained charity. She loved her Galen without end. She loved her family continually. She loved her friends without hesitation. All who knew her, knew they had a warm place in her heart. For their 25th wedding anniversary, dad wrote her 25 love notes. Of her, in those letters, he wrote "Your consideration for others is boundless, your generosity seems endless. Thoughtfulness is your character and tenderness your outward expression." Their relationship was made from the stuff of fairy-tales, and built for the eternities.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Galen, Parents, Ruth and Ralph Larsen,Father-in-law, Vere X Campbell, Brother-in-Law, Jared Campbell, and Sister-in-law, Connie Madsen. She is survived by her children; Jonathan and Melanie Campbell, Kristin and Jeffrey Allen, Julie and Sam Liston, and Katie and Ryan Poulsen. Also survived by wonderful siblings, David (Margaret) Larsen, Charlie (Kendra) Larsen, Kathy (Dirk) Horton, Angie (Peter) Jenson, and Robert Madsen. Grandchildren: Lauren, Haley, Eden, Esme', Gracie, Elsa, Olive, Luke, Lyla, Wes, and Caroline.
We love you mom!
