The last time I saw Steve was the Fall of 1969, downtown SLC. Steve and I sat together in Wind Ensemble. He always had a sheepish grin afixed to some wisecrack. From time to time he was a PITA for his unconstrained tongue. But he was a decent fellow at heart. The summer of '66 we got together briefly when he discovered I was experimenting with a firecracker powered canon. He enjoyed the diversion, but would never consent to visiting at his home. I would never have guessed he would beat me to graduation.
Thanks for your memories, Jess. Steve Wynn was a lucky fellow to have a wonderful wife, Heidi. She contacted Doug Mortensen about Steve’s passing after she received the postcard notice about our coming reunion.
Jane Knudsen Poulsen contacted her afterwards to see if she wanted to add more information for us about Steve, or stay in contact with us, but she declined, saying they had been very happy being private people- enjoying each other’s company immensely. He passed away within three weeks of a cancer diagnosis,so I’m sure it has not been easy for her. We appreciated her sharing that information and were glad he had a happy life with those he loved.
