Jacques Booth

Jacques (Jac) Louis Booth

1950-2022

Jacques (Jac) Louis Booth passed away with family by his side on New Year's Day January 1, 2022 after a 5-month battle with brain cancer. He will be missed terribly, but we know he had a wonderful celebration awaiting him on the other side of the veil.

Jacques was born on June 30, 1950 to Louis W. and Marguerite Jacques Booth as the beloved "baby brother" to his three older sisters. He grew up in Salt Lake City and graduated from East High in 1968. Jacques loved singing and formed long lasting friendships with those whom he performed with in Madrigals & A 'Capella, the "Boy's quartet" and numerous ward choirs he has been part of. He has loved the association with his East High Study Group of friends for the past 55 years.

As a young man, Jacques served in the Franco Belgian mission, his mother's country of birth, cultivating a love for his heritage and the French language. He maintained a close relationship with his Belgian family until his passing.

In 1974 he married Dawn Wilding and together raised three wonderful children: Jeanne Lynn, Justin and Sarah.

Jacques graduated from the University of Utah (but has had season football tickets to BYU for over 30 years). He told great stories about his jobs working as a paper boy, at Lagoon, at the Church Office Building (Temple Dept.) for 10 years and with Intermountain Healthcare for 24 years. After getting his master's degree, he enjoyed teaching Organizational and Human Resource Management at the University of Phoenix, as a part-time professor for over 14 years.

Jacques had a great love for his family, the Savior Jesus Christ, temple work, and serving in his church and community. He served in various capacities: as a Bishop in the Granite Sixth Ward, Elder's Quorum President, High Priest Leader and Gospel Doctrine teacher to name a few.

Jacques married Diane Braithwaite Rowley on October 1, 1998 and helped raise her four children. The next 24 years were filled with love and happiness….and even MORE years of service. Together they were ordinance workers in the Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain Temples, served in the Philippines Cebu East mission, spent time as Guest Service missionaries and later as Hosting/Service missionaries at the Church Conference Center.

He loved having family get-togethers, cooking fancy dinners, traveling to Belgium to see family, going on cruises, doing genealogy work, spending time with grandchildren, walking the dog, arm wrestling, attending Hale Centre Theatre and the Utah Symphony.

Jacques had a passion for life and for his family. He had a huge impact on many he worked and served with. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his sisters Colette Baird, Janine Coles (Bill), Nicole Ramjoue (George); his children Jeanne Lynn O'Connor (Mike), Justin Booth (Mindie), Sarah Booth; Step-children Janalyn Elzinga (Nick), Ayla Good (Dave), Natasha Peck (Garrett), Katrina Rowley; 12 beautiful grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Keith Baird, and grandson Sean O'Connor.

His family wishes to thank Rocky Mountain Care, Intermountain Homecare and the staff at Radiation Therapy for the care and comfort provided to Jacques the last few months.
