1950-2020

Salt Lake City, UT- Denzil A. Grimshaw died after a valiant fight with his health on October 28, 2020 at his daughter's home surrounded by his family.  He was born August 20, 1950 in Hyde, Gee Cross, Cheshire, England to Dennis and Joyce (McGraw) Grimshaw.  Denzil and his family immigrated to the United States at the age of thirteen. 

Denzil graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1968.  He then went on to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arizona form 19970 to 1972.  After his mission he sanf in the University of Utah Institute Choir where he met and married Karyn (Keddington) Grimshaw in the Salt Lake Temple on August 28, 1975.  In 1990, he earned a B.S. in Interpersonal Communications and another B.S.in Psychology at the Univeristy of Utah.  He then completed a Masters' Degree of Social Work at the same university in 1992. Throughout his career he received numerous awards and recognition for his work in the community.  He was very proud of his last position as Clinical Director at ISAT from 2007-2015.  

Denzil was a man of intellect and a true bard.  He was an avid songwriter, poet, and seeker of knowledge.  He loved music and had an amazing voice.  He had the pleasure of forming a band with some of his best mates and was able to live a small portion of his dream of being a rock star.  Another passion that he enjoyed was soccer.  He was and forever will be a devoted Manchester United fan. 

He was predeceased by his father, Dennis, his mother, Joyce, and his sister, Nancy Farley.  He is survived by Karyn Grimshaw (divorced), Jan Grimshaw (divorced), his son, Bryan Grimshaw, and his wife, Camille (South Jordan); his daughters, Patricia Manning and her husband, Jared (Twin Falls); Amy Grimshaw; Becca DiSera and her husband, Billy (Holladay); his nine grandchildren; Erin, Seth, Aven, and John Grimshaw; Jacob, Tristan and Kyra Manning; McKenzie and Xander DiSera; his sister Elizabeth Grimshaw and her wife Kathy Ellis (Oregon), their daughter Emmalee; and his nephew, Jeremy Schooley and his wife, Julie (Salt Lake CIty) and their children Piper and Jameson.  

An intimate family service will be held on Monday, November 2nd at 1 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 2675 East 4430 South, Holladay, UT.  Due to the unusual circumstances with Covid-19 we will not be having a public viewing.  For those interested in paying their last respects in person, at 2 pm we will be having a bagpiper playing as Denzil is transported to the hearse.  You are welcome to come and view the procession in the parking lot, practicing extreme social distancing with MASKS REQUIRED.  We will be recording the service and will post it on Facebook for those interested.
