Darrell Steven Hall

1950-1997

Darrell was born June 26, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and died Mar. 11, 1997 at his home in Portland, Oregon of ALS (Lou Gehrigs disease).

Through each rapidly progressing stage of this cruel and relentless disease, Darrell was an example to us of strength and courage and continued to grace us with his wonderful smile and unique sense of humor. His wife, Karen, surrounded him with her special love and courage; her gentle, professional care helped to make his transition less difficult.

Darrell attended school in Salt Lake City, Ut., including two years at the U. of U. Most of his adult life was spent in the San Francisco area where he complete his Bachelor's Degree in Biology and his Master's Degree in the study of the flying squirrel at SFSU. He had a deep respect for the environment and a desire to learn all aspects of nature. He was an avid bird watcher and gently encouraged others to learn about and love birds. He was an excellent skier and spent many happy hours on the slopes at Alta.

Darrell's passing will leave a large empty place in the lives of his wife, parents, step father, Earl; brothers, Larry (Peggy), Jeffrey (Diane).

He was a "favorite uncle" to Jenny, Alison, Wendy, Rachel, Deborah, Kathryn, Jessica and Scott.

On his ashes, wildflowers will grow. On the wings of hummingbirds, his spirit will soar. In the fresh mist of the woods, in the salty spray of the ocean, in the hot breeze of the desert, we will feel his presence and know that he walks with us, always.

There will be a memorial service at the Oakley City Hall, Oakley, Utah on Saturday, June 28, 1997 at 1 p.m.
